Finding Flow and Alignment with Sara McCormick

Sara McCormick, the writer and astrologer behind Bella deLuna, has always been interested in how humans work and the different factors that affect our behavior.

Not only has she earned a degree in psychology, but early in life, she developed a keen interest in astrology.

“I would grab the paper from my Dad each morning to read both the comics and my horoscope,” Sara says. “As I got older I read any book about astrology or horoscopes that I could get my hands on. Astrology is just a different framework for looking at behavior and personality. You can look at different parts of your birth chart to gain insights into what drives you, how you deal with anxiety and anger, and so much more with astrology.”

Astrology is often misunderstood as constricting, dictating our actions and personalities rather than guiding them, which causes many people to rely on it too heavily or eschew it altogether. But that couldn’t be further from the truth, especially in the way that Sara teaches astrology and uses it in her own life.

“There is this misunderstanding that astrology is controlling your life somehow,” Sara told me, “but astrology is just like reading the weather report. We can look to astrology to get a general sense of the collective energy that may be impacting us, so we can make informed decisions about what to do with that knowledge. Just like you take steps to prepare for rain by putting on a raincoat or grabbing an umbrella, astrology can help you prepare for the energetic shifts that occur throughout our days and weeks, such as a day where it seems everyone has a short fuse, or a week where there is a lot of nervous energy in the air.”

After a few rough years of working in the nonprofit sector and burning out, Sara turned her love of astrology into a side hustle that soon became her full-time business. In time, her business evolved and Sara combined her astrological philosophy with self-care principles to create Soul Care Astrology, her signature methodology.

“To me, Soul Care Astrology is taking astrology a little deeper into how you can take this energetic weather report and use it to help yourself learn and grow. How can you use this information to help get closer to your higher self: the best version of you possible.”

Intrigued? Me too!

When I first heard about Sara and Soul Care Astrology, I immediately wanted to know more. I was surprised to find out how grounded, practical, and logical this philosophy actually is and how simple it is to integrate into everyday life.

Sara goes on, “Soul Care Astrology is a little like therapy. It invites you to be reflective but also to take action when needed. It helps you become so aware of yourself and your limitations, but also how you can grow. It helps you see the version of you that is possible and also guides you to love who you are right in this moment.”

But even the most aligned businesses can get crazy and overwhelming, and it’s often helpful to bring in support.

Sara reached out to me when she was struggling to find clarity in her business. “I needed an outsider's eye!” she said. “I was so in the weeds when it came to communicating my offerings and how I presented them, and I knew there was a better way but I couldn’t see it from where I was. Your values really aligned with mine, which is something that is important to me and I knew I wouldn’t feel like the weird kid on the playground, which can often happen in my line of work.”

And it was a beautiful match!

My team and I were able to remove some tasks from Sara’s to-do list and aid with creating clear copy that communicated the value of her offerings to her audience. This opened up more space for Sara to focus on creating offerings and serving clients, while also inviting in more clarity for her life and the future of her business.

“Having less on my plate means having more space to do what I love to do: connect with my intuition and channel guidance.”

So much of Sara’s work focuses on helping others live in tune with nature’s cycles and in flow with one’s own intuition, and collaborating in this way was clearly part of coming into flow and alignment for Sara. It allowed her to refocus on the purpose of her business and recalibrate her business to support that.

“When you claim your power, you find your path,” says Sara. “My goal is to be able to follow my own rhythm and path, and help others find theirs. Shucking off the mantle of pushing ourselves to burnout is a hard thing to do and part of what is necessary for me as a business owner to be able to do that is to work with others who can take things off my plate so I’m less tempted to push myself.”

If that isn’t the perfect example of walking your talk, I don’t know what is!
