Daring to Listen

When everything seems to be moving at warp speed around me, I'm intentionally focusing on slowing down and receiving. During this next phase of my business, I'm daring to listen more.

A month and a half ago, I embarked on a two-week journey that began by joining some close friends in the desert. I knew the experience would be powerful, but the entire trip was so hugely transformative that I am only now able to really speak to it.

It all began last fall when my friend Amy Kuretsky announced that she was hosting a mind, body & business retreat in Joshua Tree. Over the course of a couple of weeks, I learned that some of my favorite humans (all of whom I have only ever met online) were also going to be attending—including my feelings coach Barbara Erochina who was traveling all the way from Toronto. It was then that Barbara and I started scheming about how we could turn this trip into an extended collaboration.

Instead of diving straight into Amy's retreat, a small group of us decided to go out to Joshua Tree a few days early, after which we would attend Amy's retreat with a fresh mind and open heart. After the retreat concluded, Barbara planned to come back with me to Austin, leading a two-night workshop for Mindful Moments. All said and done, this was two full weeks of inspired conversations, meaningful connections, and soul-shattering work.

And I knew that going into it. I knew it was going to be powerful, but even with that expectation, the actual experience blew me away in how deeply transformative it was to spend time in deep connection with other humans who truly hear you and see you.

To be witnessed in this way, I found my deepest truth.
To be fully seen, I saw the power in my softness for the very first time.
To be witness to others speaking their truth, I discovered the unbreakable bonds of creating community through a shared experience.

It's experiences like these that I want to continue to cultivate. I want more genuine connection and more meaningful conversation. I want to give all of us the permission to take some much-needed time away from the daily grind so that we can reconnect with Our Why and use that as the fuel to help us take the next step.

Want to know what I discovered as my deepest truth, my big, epic, wild dream for my business?

I want to change the way we do business. I want to prove that a more feminine approach can be just as (or even more!) successful as the traditionally more masculine way that we are accustomed to doing business. I want to embolden you to build your business in a way that feels good to you. I want to help you redefine what success looks like for your business, and help you achieve that in your own way. I want to be the person who dared to listen to you so that you felt seen and heard and empowered to go off and accomplish your dreams. I want to be the person who fiercely encourages you to always follow your vision, Your Why.

In order for me to more fully step into this wild & epic dream for myself, I'm turning inward for a bit to reflect on the best ways for me to show up and do this. My Why has always been to create and hold space for others so that they may uncover what's lurking just beneath the surface that will propel them forward. I'm experimenting with finding new ways of creating this space through meaningful collaborations, and I can't wait to share more with you soon!

Because of these discoveries, and because of this devotion to radical listening, things are going to look a little different around here. I'll be doing less writing on here, as I do more reflective writing for myself to see what it is that's most important for me to share with you all. I'm stepping away from doing as much 1-on-1 work so that I can focus on creating stellar content for upcoming workshops and retreats.

If you're curious about what new events, workshops or retreats are in the pipeline, head to my Workshops & Retreats Page where I'll always keep this updated.

I'm eager to share more of this journey with you as it unfolds. In the meantime, here are some journal prompts to hopefully help you uncover your big, epic & wild dream for your business:

  1. Take yourself back to the beginning of when you started your business. Why did you even begin?
  2. Why do you keep going?
  3. How do you want to be remembered?
  4. What is the legacy you want to leave?
  5. Regardless of how things might shift or change in your business, what is the one thing you want to remain constant?
  6. Why is that one thing so important to you and the work you do?

Please know that I'm here, and I would really love to hear from you. If you care to share your responses with me, I would really love to hear from you! You can send me a DM on Instagram, or email me directly at hello@maggiegentry.com.
